04/08/2019- Felony drug dealing charges yield a lengthy prison stay for a Menominee man. Last week, Menominee County Circuit Court Judge Mary Barglind handed down a sentence of a minimum of 10 years and up to 20 years imprisonment for 40-year-old Matthew Chapel who was arrested in January. Detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team obtained a search warrant for an apartment near Blesch Intermediate School where they located and seized about 2 grams of meth. Chapel and several other people were inside the apartment at the time. Chapel allegedly told detectives he had traveled to Appleton, Wisconsin to buy 3.5 grams of meth from his supplier earlier that day. Judge Barglind says she hopes the sentence imposed “will send a strong message to the community.”
