10/12/2020- A pending agreement between Marinette County and other Northeast Wisconsin Counties could help ease some concerns about how a potential COVID outbreak amongst County employees could impact winter road maintenance. Highway Commissioner Eric Burmeister says, with the snow season fast approaching and no signs that coronavirus activity will slow down before then, he’s working on a mutual aid agreement with Brown, Oconto, and Door Counties to ensure that in the event a highway department in any of these areas is hit particularly hard by the virus, residents there will still have passable roadways.

Burmeister adds that the agreement would continue to be beneficial even after the pandemic subsides, noting that the additional support from these counties could be called upon during extreme flooding events or other natural disasters.
