During the summer months, blood and platelet donations often don’t keep pace with hospital demand. The American Red Cross usually sees a decrease in blood inventory around the summer holidays. School is out so out, so the blood inventory dips a little. Laura McGuire Regional Communications Manager for the Wisconsin Red Cross says, “we love to have blood drives where we can invite people in and really make an impact on the blood supply.”

McGuire says, “the need for blood and platelets is constant throughout the year.”

The American Red Cross is hosting the 36th Annual Super Donor Days Blood Drive Thursday, June 30th from noon to 6pm and Friday, July 1st from 6am to noon at the Tundra Lodge Resort in Green Bay. All presenting donors will receive a Red Cross recycled cotton tote bag, a $10 give card, and a picnic style food. Appointments are encouraged by registering online at redcrossblood.org or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS.
