02/01/2019- Take it easy on the roads: that from Marinette County safety officials. Because road salt becomes ineffective in extreme cold, many roadways throughout the county remain snow-packed and slippery. Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve says there have been two serious crashes since Monday’s snow storm and he’s reminding drivers to slow down.
While warmer temperatures are in the forecast for this weekend, Sauve says drivers shouldn’t assume that will automatically improve road conditions. He warns that as snow melts during the day and refreezes overnight, slicks spots are likely to occur.
Sauve says motorists should also be on the lookout for emergency vehicles and move over and slow down for those personnel assisting other drivers. Updated road conditions across the state are available at 511wi.gov.
