Former Menominee County Sherriff’s Deputy, Brian Helfert, appeared in court Friday at the Menominee County Courthouse for his preliminary hearing about the 11 felony counts against him.  Presiding Judge, Robert Jamo listened as testimony was given to him by the victim and the victim’s mother.  Menominee Prosecuting attorney, Jeffery Rogg says, “he’d like to add more charges against him.”

Rogg says, “this court should make its findings based on the evidence presented.”

While Judge Jamo made no decisions today. Helfert will appear Monday, May 24 at 8:30AM via zoom video conferencing to determine if he will be bound over to court.  Helfert is being charged with Child Sexually Abusive Activity, four-counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct – first degree, three counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct – third degree, Assault with intent to commit insertion, gross indecency between males and a sexually delinquent person notice. Helfert is currently being lodged in Ontonagon, Michigan
