01/17/2019- The Menominee Regional Airport Committee could soon see its membership increase. This week, the board passed a recommendation to expand the committee by two non-county commissioners, bringing the total number of committee members to five. The new appointees would be Menominee County residents and it was suggested that one be an airport user and the other come from the county’s business sector. In a written statement, Committee member Steve Gromala says while some argue that the county will incur additional per diem and mileage expenses by expanding the board, the addition will help the board better understand the needs of those using the airport. The bylaws of both the airport committee and the county’s Board of Commissioners will need to be amended for the committee expansion to go through. The full county board is expected to take up the recommendation at their next meeting.
