04/26/2019- An amended recommendation to expand the Menominee Regional Airport Committee is headed back to the County Board. Commissioners had asked the county’s Executive Committee to re-examine a proposal to add an airport lease holder and a commercial user of the airport to the Committee because the original proposal required the new members be Menominee County residents and some commissioners saw that move as too restrictive. The Executive Committee took up the discussion this week nixing the residency requirements and committee member Larry Phelps even took it a step further to suggest adding more than two new members.  While others on the committee didn’t disagree there may be value in expanding the committee beyond the two new members, they felt it would be prudent to assess how this current proposed increase works before adding more voices. There was also a recommendation made to scale back frequency of the Airport Committee meetings to bi-monthly instead of monthly. The entire proposal will be sent along to the full county board for final consideration.
