06/19/2019- If you’ve thought of trying skydiving, you’ll likely have your chance on Sunday August 11th at the Menominee Regional Airport. M&M Aviation, which is in the process of moving in at the Airport plans to sponsor a one day event which will offer tandem sky driving with Sky Dive Charlevoix from lower Michigan. M&M Aviation had held the event previously at the Delta County Airport when they were located there. The Airport Committee is recommending to the County Board that they approve the event. The Airport also plans to again host a Model Train Show on September 7th.
After hearing from airport users, the Airport Committee is considering replacing barricades that prevent vehicle traffic onto the tarmac for safety reasons. They are considering removing the barricades to allow easier airplane access from the hanger area to the tarmac and fuel tanks, but would still ban vehicles, with signs posted to that effect. Gates would be erected in place of the barricades which could be closed when necessary.
