As hunters prepare to take to the woods for Wisconsin’s upcoming gun deer season, some may still be scouting for the perfect hunting location. Marinette County Forestry Director Pete Villas says, “Marinette County forests consist of roughly 230,000 acres of land. We are the second largest county forest in the state of Wisconsin, and all of our land in the county forest is open for hunting.”
Villas says, “ there are some parts of the county forest that are used more than others.”
During the state’s nine-day gun deer season, county forest lands remain open to other recreation activities such as ATV/UTV trail riding, hiking, horseback riding, fishing, bird watching, and dog walking.
