07/08/2019- Authorities are investigating an armed robbery at Stephenson National Bank and Trust in Pembine Monday. It happened just before 1:30 p.m. when a man wearing a mask entered the bank and showed a handgun. No one was injured and the suspect fled in an unknown direction in a dark-colored SUV with no license plates. The man is described as 6’2″ to 6’5″ tall, thin to medium build and was wearing light colored blue jeans, brown shoes, and a dark sweatshirt or jacket. As a result, the Pembine bank will be closed all day today as they work with police on the matter and will reopen Wednesday at 8 a.m. The robbery is similar to another that happened in Escanaba last Friday when a male dressed in black wearing a mask and carrying a gun tried to enter a credit union that had already closed for the day. Surveillance footage showed him in what is believed to be an older-model dark-colored GMC Acadia. Anyone with information should contact the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office.
