‘Shop with a Cop’ is an annual event organized by Bay Cities Radio where local law enforcement agencies assist with taking children shopping for Christmas presents. The children involved have unfortunate experiences with law enforcement, such as witnessing a fatal accident or a similar traumatic event, and we don’t want that tragedy to be the child’s enduring memory of law enforcement. “Shop with a Cop helps build a lasting, positive relationship between children and law enforcement by giving them a positive experience with the officers,” says Stephanie Edge, Bay Cities Radio Business Manager and Shop with a Cop Organizer.

Edge says, “it’s hard to believe but Bay Cities Radio raised over $12,000 for the Shop with a Cop program this year and with that we could increase the amount that we provided each family. Usually, it’s around $100. This year we were able to increase the amount to $150 and $200 per family, as well as a gift certificate for the families to purchase groceries.”

100 percent of the ‘Shop with a Cop’ funds go directly back into the community and Edge is already working hard on next year’s ‘Shop with a Cop’ program. She would like to remind community members that if they would like to donate items for wrapping gifts, provide a monetary donation, or would like to volunteer they may contact her by email at stephanie@baycitiesonline.com, stop in at 844 Pierce Ave, Marinette, or call 715-735-0225.
