The fine for driving without a seat belt in Wisconsin is ten dollars, but the real consequences can be far worse. The DOT’s Click it or Ticket campaign kicks off on May 21st in Wisconsin and nationwide. Mike Panosh, regional program manager with the Wisconsin DOT, says those who fail to buckle up account for a large number of traffic fatalities.
While education and enforcement efforts have helped bring seat belt use in Wisconsin to an all-time high, Panosh says there’s still room for improvement.
During the Click it or Ticket campaign, you can expect increased police presence on the road as officers seek to crack down on violators. The effort runs through June 3rd.
