01/09/2019- It’s the first of what’s likely to be many steps for Marinette County as they work toward furthering economic and community development. The Development Committee met Tuesday to consider authorizing County Administrator John Lefebvre enter in to discussion with Bay Lakes Regional Planning to develop a plan related to the role the County should assume in promoting or conducting economic development. Lefebvre says before Marinette County can make any plans of their own, they need to consider what their options are and what they associated costs may be.
County Board Chairman Mark Anderson says in the past, development has gotten bogged-down at the board level and enlisting the help of a third-party organization will allow them to identify a specific set of goals to work toward.
The Development Committee approved Lefebvre’s recommendation to work with Bay Lakes on the economic and community development proposal at no cost to the county. He’s expected to bring an update back to the committee in the coming months.
