Michigan releases updated consumption guidelines for fish from the waters in and around the state. Carp caught in the bay of Green Bay are listed as Do Not Eat, while largemouth and smallmouth bass over 18-inches, Northern Pike, Rock Bass, and Suckers each have recommended consumption limitations due to their PCB and mercury levels. These fish and more, including several species of panfish from the Menominee River also come with recommendations on the number of servings per month a person should consume. Michigan’s Eat Safe Fish guide factors in a person’s age, weight, and existing health conditions when making these recommendations. To view the whole list, visit michigan.gov/eatsafefish.
