Menominee County eyes a top candidate to fill their administrator role. Six of the county’s nine commissioners met Monday to interview four applicants for the position. After a brief deliberation, each agreed that the second candidate of the day, Jeff Thornton, showed significant promise. Sharon Klumpp with Springsted Waters, the recruitment firm assisting in the search, said with more job openings than qualified candidates, the county may want to move quickly to secure Thornton.
Commissioner Steve Gromala says the board has a strong list of candidates and he’d be comfortable with any of them taking on the administrator position should negotiations with Thornton fall through.
The county’s negotiation committee will meet later this week to discuss extending an official offer to Thornton. Sherry DuPont has been serving as Menominee County’s interim administrator since Brian Bousley resigned in 2016.
