09/21/2018- It’s the time of year when people figure out how to use pumpkins for just about everything- including as boats. The Menominee Historic Downtown Farmers Market will hold their 8th annual Giant Pumpkin Festival tomorrow at the Great Lakes Memorial Marina Park. Lucy Pier helps organize the event. She says the day features contests in pumpkin carving, bowling, seed spitting, pie eating and, yes, even boat racing.
There will also be vendors, musicians, and children’s activities at the festival, which has drawn in as many as three thousand visitors in years past. Pier says the event is put on entirely by volunteers and all proceeds go towards funding the next year’s festival.
The Giant Pumpkin Festival runs from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM. You can find out more about the event on their Facebook Page.
