05/16/2019- Three Wisconsin law enforcement officers lost their lives in the line of duty in the past year. They and the police men and women killed nationwide were honored at a Law Enforcement Memorial Service held in Marinette yesterday as part of Peace Officers Memorial Day. The event’s keynote speaker was Navy Commander Joshua Fields. He says while he shares no common experiences with police officers, they do share similar circumstances as members of the uniformed service.
In addition to recognizing those officers that were killed, the ceremony was also a time to reflect on the sacrifices law enforcement families make. All three of the officers killed in the state last year were from the Milwaukee Police Department. Peace Officers Memorial Day is part of National Police Week which runs through Saturday.
