09/20/2019- The two part-time forestry patrol officers for Marinette County will be out of a job next year. The County Board voted this week to eliminate the positions following the approval of hiring a second recreational patrol deputy in the Sheriff’s Department. Although some supervisors said they wanted to maintain the FPOs in addition to bringing a new rec deputy on board, after a second round of deliberation, the recommendation from the Infrastructure Committee continued to be to cut the positions in the interest of both safety and fiscal responsibility. The recommendation was approved by the county board with five dissenting votes. The change goes into effect in January.
