12/10/2018- A new agreement with Northern Michigan University could bring improved internet service to Marinette’s municipal buildings. The city’s Common Council approved a contract last week that allows the university to place broadband equipment on the city’s water tower, giving NMU students access to some of their online courses. In return, the broadband access will also be opened up to the city for its operations, including use on emergency vehicles and at city offices. NMU will be responsible for all related equipment and installation costs. The contract term is for ten years, but allows early termination by either party with a one-year notice.
