It looks like it’ll be a busy summer in Marinette as the Marinette Plan Commission approved site plans for several projects.
Construction should begin in April on a dual-tenant building to be constructed in an out lot in front of the Pine Tree Mall near Roosevelt Road. One of the tenants is identified on the drawings as Starbucks Coffee. The other tenant would also be a restaurant.
Also at the Mall, illuminated signage was approved for Joanne Fabric which will be locating in a portion of the old JC Penney store.
Down the street, a 2900 square foot expansion was approved for the Aldi store. Robert Merkle, construction manager for Aldi says the expansion will provide room for a new set of products, and well as more shelf space for some current products. Construction is expected to start in June with a Grand Reopening planned for October.
Menards also received permission for a new accessory building which will provide additional storage space in their outside yard area. Construction is planned for sometime this year.
Wisconsin Public Service also received approval for updates to their Natural Gas Gate Station located across the street from Pine Tree Mall on Roosevelt Road. The facility, which has been at that location since 1960, is the main gas feed to the city of Marinette. The project includes adding a new building to house the equipment that injects the odor into the natural gas. One of the existing buildings will be replaced, as well as the fencing, and other buildings will be painted to blend in better with the stores in the area.
