03/22/2018–Menominee Senior and Junior High School Students are planning a peaceful walkout Friday morning to show their support for school safety in light of the recent school shooting tragedy in Florida. Jonah Zuehls, an 8th grade student is one of the spokespersons.
While most school of the school walkouts across the country were last Wednesday, the Menominee Students were involved in their school musical on that day, and decided to wait until this Friday.
Emma Nowack, a Sophomore says the students have gotten the support of their principal and other staff.
Jay Peters, a Sophomore says the walkout will begin at 9:55am Friday.
A police officer will be on hand to escort the students during their walk. The group hopes to also raise some money to send along with letters of support to students at the High School in Parkland Florida.
