This week’s frigid temperatures remind us that winter is far from over and for many, the cold also brings with it the added challenge of paying those home heating bills.
An upcoming event is aimed at providing a little extra comfort to those in need. The Community Action Agency for Menominee, Delta, and Schoolcraft Counties is hosting their annual Walk for Warmth in Menominee on February 24th. Renelle Betters with the Community Action Agency says all the money raised from the walk will benefit families right here in our community.
The Walk for Warmth begins at the Menominee Senior Center. Registration opens at 9:00 AM and the walk starts at 10:00. The event has raised nearly $280000 for more than 2000 residents since it began in 1992.
Similar events will be held in Delta and Schoolcraft Counties to benefit residents in those areas. Pledge forms and more information about the local Walk for Warmth can be found at mdscaa.org.
