A Lena area man is in custody and being medically evaluated after a 10-hour standoff yesterday.
At approximately 1:30 p.m., Oconto County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence in the town of Lena to conduct a welfare check for a suicidal male who was wanted for domestic-related crimes earlier in the day.
Oconto County Deputies made contact with the subject and negotiated with him for several hours. The male subject was armed and barricaded in his home, firing several rounds at deputies. After negotiations broke down, the Brown County Emergency Response Unit and the Brown–Outagamie County Bomb Squad was called to assist with the volatile situation. U.S 141 was detoured between Cty M and Cty B due to safety concerns.
The situation was resolved at approximately 11:50 p.m. An adult male subject was taken into custody and transported for medical evaluation
