Wisconsin Public Service is reminding customers that the winter heating moratorium ends this Sunday. Those households that may have fallen behind on their energy bills should contact WPS to make a payment or risk being disconnected. Energy assistance programs may be available for qualifying customers and there’s no fee to determine eligibility or apply for the assistance. WPS adds that phone scams are popular this time of year and callers target customers with threats of immediate disconnection unless they make a payment using a prepaid card. WPS never solicits payments in this manner and anyone who receives a suspicious call should contact WPS.
