Occasionally, a community finds a reason to rally around one of their own who is truly in need. And in Menominee, joining that rally around a 1st grader recently diagnosed with leukemia might get you a bucket list experience involving one of the biggest college football games of the year.

A Menominee couple decided to do something to help. Dr. Mike Karkkainen and his wife Tammy recently posted a college football package through an online auction that includes two midfield tickets to the Michigan/Michigan State game in East Lansing on October 30th. But it gets better, the package also includes round trip transportation on a chartered jet from Menominee to East Lansing and a two-night stay at a 4 start East Lansing hotel.  “After learning of Mile’s serious diagnosis, we tried to think of a way we could help the Sorensen family during these difficult times. Because of our Spartan loyalty, we have access to tickets, hotels, and transportation from Menominee to East Lansing,” says Karkkainen.

The auction started October 19th and will closed Wednesday, October 27th at 6pm. Bidders can set up an account and start bidding at superiorauction.net. For others, the Go Fund Me page, Help Miles Beat Leukemia is also available.
