The topic of late has been the City of Marinette’s downtown district and whether to increase the size of the sidewalks or possibly turn the two-lane road into a one-lane road. However, after their August 4th meeting it was decided to allow the downtown businesses to weigh in on the project. This past week Ayers and Associates Pete Kowalachecki, Mayor Steve Genisot, and City Engineer Brian Miller went to each downtown business to get their input. In an update given by Ayers and Associates at Tuesday evenings Special Common Council meeting Kowalachecki updated the council on his findings.
After hearing the feedback, the council approved the two-way road with a mini roundabout at Ludington Street as well as maintaining as much of the current parking as possible. They also requested that Ayers and Associates return with a plan on how to slow traffic for pedestrians on main street.
