The City of Marinette could be moving over to an automated cart system for their waste management services instead of their current bagged service. During their monthly Board of Public Works meeting Waste Management presented their 64-gallon closed garbage cart that would be distributed to every household in Marinette at the cost to the city. “Directionally, I think we should consider going to the automated system,” says committee member Rick Polzin.
While the question was raised about those homes who might have more garbage than one container could hold. Waste Management does offer a solution by getting another cart directly from Waste Management and paying them directly for the cart. Currently, the city is in the last year of their contract with Waste Management and is in contract negotiations with them. At this time there is no commitment as to whether they will move forward with the automated system or continue with their services.
