A new project at Spies Public Library will put the history of our area as recorded as far back as 1885 online for anyone to view. “We have a microfilm reader at the library with 300 reels of microfilm. Currently, the most at jeopardy are the ones from 1885,” says Blair Nelson director of Spies Public Library.
“The rest of the money was put into the M and M Community Foundation and our hope is that over time the fund grows,” says Nelson.
The initial contributions were made in Dina Johnson Meissner’s name because of bother her interest in books and in the local paper, to which she subscribed, no matter where in the country she lived. Anyone interested in contributing to the fund may contact the Community Foundation at 906-864-3599 or online at mmacf.org
