Marinette County Board of Supervisors approved contributing $43,900 to the City of Marinette towards the purchase of a 24ft search and rescue airboat at Tuesday’s County board meeting; with the agreement that the county, be able use the airboat. However, some members were not in agreement with allowing the City to obtain funds from the County.  County Administrator John Lefebvre says, “I am in favor of rescuing people and recovering when needed.”

“I am not sure of the financial need, I am not sure of the dollar amount, and why $43,900 was selected. It might just be to round it off. I am not sure why the city selected that,” says Lefebvre.

With the support of the County, City, and donations the airboat will be able to be purchased with a delivery date of mid-January.
