Marinette County is in the “Very High” category and is currently ranked 21st out of the 72 counties in Wisconsin for COVID cases. While the State of Wisconsin might be seeing a plateau that is not the case for Marinette County; where they are averaging 23 cases per day according to Public Health Officer, Molly Bonjean.
Bonjean says, “the Wisconsin Department of Health Services announced that Wisconsin has received the first allocation of the oral antiviral COVID-19 treatments.”
As of today, there are 97 deaths since the onset of the pandemic and 13 deaths just in the last month. That’s an average of almost one death every other day. Statewide, about 62 percent of the population have received at least one dose of COVID vaccine and 58 percent are fully vaccinated. Locally, 52 percent of the population have received at least one dose of COVID vaccine and 49 percent are fully vaccinated. Total cases since the inception of the pandemic have been 9,160 reported COVID cases in Marinette County.
