The City of Marinette is incentivizing COVID-19 vaccinations for its employees. In a special council meeting held Tuesday evening Mayor Steve Genisot addressed the council saying, “we as a city need to take the first step to try and get people vaccinated.”
“We would pay this a one-time fee. If a mandate should come down this incentive would go away,” says Genisot.
The money that will be used to pay for the COVID-19 vaccination incentive will come from the ARPA funds which the city currently has over one-million dollars available to them. Out of that fund, they could use up to $50,000 if all employees were to get a COVID shot. After a lengthy discussion, the council unanimously approved the COVID incentive.
