The Water Wastewater Utility Board approved a 2 ½ year extension of their contract with Infrastructure Alternatives which operates the Waste and Wastewater systems for the city. The new agreement includes a 10 percent increase in fees paid to the company. It also includes another 2 percent increase starting in July 2023. Currently, the city is paying just over $79 ,000 a month for water/wastewater services and with the increase it will go up to over $87,000. The increase is due to the rising cost of chemicals, labor, staffing, and COVID, according to the company. The proposed contract extension has been forwarded to council for their final approval.
