A new lease deal between the M & M Yacht Club and the City of Menominee is sent back to the negotiating table. The City Council heard a recommendation from the Parks and Recreation/Building and Grounds Committee Monday to approve the concept of the lease which would have the Yacht Club performing facility upgrades totaling around $75000 in lieu of rent for the next ten years. The Yacht Club still needs to complete their Scope of Work before the lease can be finalized, but Commodore Mitch Hubert says the Club wants the backing of the Council before paying for those services.
The improvements would bring the facility into ADA compliance and while Council Member Bill Plemel says the City has worked out these types of deals before, the Council shouldn’t be signing-off on a proposal they don’t have the exact parameters of. Instead, he wants the Yacht Club and Parks and Rec Committee to hammer out the details of the lease before presenting it to Council.
The City Council voted to send the item back to the committee level. If the Yacht Club can complete their Scope of Work in the next month, the council could vote on the lease deal at their October meeting.
