More than $800-thousand dollars in grant funding is awarded to organizations throughout the Upper Peninsula to address some of the region’s most pressing health care issues. The Investing in the Upper Peninsula Health grant initiative is funded by the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Foundation and the Superior Health Foundation. Local recipients the Hannahville Indian Community who was given over $33-thousand and the Abundant Life Mission, receiving $65-thousand for their nutrition program. The initiative was designed to support programs that expand access to and improve the quality of health care and address critical health problems. 14 UP organizations in total received grant funds through this grant program.
