The transition may not have been as smooth as they had hoped for, but Marinette County will soon be in possession of the Crossroads juvenile facility. Tuesday, the County Board approved amending the contract with the Group Home Association, the current care provider for the facility’s juvenile residents, to terminate their services. The board also approved purchasing the Crossroads property from Group Home for $220000. $200-thousand dollars of that price will be applied to the organization’s debt, while the other $20-thousand will come from the county’s contingency fund. County Administrator John Lefebvre says the two parties are hoping to effectuate the closing of the property by July 15th. The new service agency, Advocates for Healthy Transitional Living, is currently working to obtain their group home license, but Crossroad residents have been relocated until that is secured. Last month, the Group Home Association informed the county they wanted out of the Crossroads facility. Group Home also runs the Anthony House and a home on Taylor Street in Marinette and will remain in possession of those two locations.
