[Marinette, WI] – Due to forecasted weather conditions for Saturday, April 14th, the launch of the LCS-17 has been postponed to April 17, 2018. Previously, it was announced that the launch would be on April 14, 2018 and would necessitate the closure of two boat landings on the Menominee River in the Cities of Marinette (WI) and Menominee (MI).

Boom Landing in Marinette and River Park (Mystery Ship) ramp in Menominee, MI will still be closed to the public from midnight Friday, April 13, 2018 until approximately 5:00 pm on Saturday, April 14, 2018 for christening ceremonies. Additionally, the boat landings will be closed from 8:00pm on Monday, April 16th to approximately 5:00pm on Tuesday, April 17th for the actual launching of the ship into the river.

Other boat launches on this section of the Menominee River will be open to the public; however, all boats, including kayaks and canoes, will be barred from the marine safety zone established by the US Coast Guard on Tuesday from approximately 9:45am until the ship is safely docked. This area is from approximately Nestegg Marine downriver to the east end of KK Integrated Logistics’ dock wall.

Boaters in the area should use caution and pay attention to directions from law enforcement and Coast Guard personnel during these times.
