An Oconto County campground will reopen to the public just in time for Memorial Day. The Boulder Lake Campground in the Chequamegon Nicolet National Forest will open on May 24th for the 2018 season. The campground was closed after the sheriff’s department received a number of complaints about a nearby resident walking through the area armed with a rifle. That man was committed for mental health treatment in January and officials from the National Forest Service now say, “The previous concerns the Forest Service had have subsided.” Although that man is not facing charges in connection with the incidents near the campground, he is facing criminal charges in three other counties.
