07/19/2019- The pavilion at Marinette’s City Park is in need of repair and the city could get some financial support for the work. The building was originally constructed by the Lions Club and then donated to the City to be rented out for parties and other gatherings, but some have noticed the pavilion’s roof is now beginning to fail. Preliminary quotes from three contractors estimated the project to cost around $8000 and the Lions Club has agreed to fund additional renovations to the facility’s electrical and exterior if the City replaces the roof. However, some members of Marinette’s Board of Public Works expressed concern that the roof project wasn’t put out for bid with formal specifications. The committee requested City Engineer Brian Miller compile those specifications so the project can be bid out. The BPW says they will reconsider the offer from the Lions once they have more details and prices available to them for the roof work.
