08/09/2018- Marinette County’s interim Highway Commissioner is looking to make that move a permanent one. Eric Burmeister has been serving in the role since the previous Commissioner, Rick Rickaby, stepped down in May. County Administrator John Lefebvre says when the County began seeking Rickaby’s successor, Burmeister approached him about taking on the job full time. Burmeister currently serves as the county’s Emergency Management Director. He has a military and law enforcement background, and Lefebvre says that experience makes him an asset to the Highway Department in an emergency. Wednesday, Lefebvre made a recommendation to the Infrastructure Committee to appoint Burmeister as Highway Commissioner. Many of the committee members expressed their appreciation for the effort Burmeister has shown as interim Commissioner and unanimously voted to send that appointment recommendation on to the full County Board.
