04/24/2019- A proposal to boost attendance at one Menominee County campground didn’t make it past the board last night. The County’s Board of Commissioners considered a recommendation to amend the 2019 parks price list to include giving campers a seventh night free if they purchased six consecutive nights at Kleinke Park. Use of that park is said to have declined as much as 30% in recent years and the proposal was presented as a one-year special designed to draw more attention to the campground and its amenities. However, some Commissioners weren’t sold on the long-term benefit to the county and others were concerned there would be complaints about only providing the offer at Kleinke Park and not others. Ultimately, the motion failed on a 4 to 5 vote.
