10/09/2018- Officials say the effort to put out a house fire just West of Marinette Sunday took more than six hours. Passersby called in the fire on Highway 64 near Cleveland Avenue around 12:30 PM and Town of Peshtigo Fire Chief Mike Folgert says when crews arrived on scene, the entire home was heavily involved with thick smoke and flames were crawling up the exterior of the residence. In total, 50 firefighters from six different departments, along with emergency medical, law enforcement, and the Red Cross responded. No one was home when the fire broke out and no injuries were reported by anyone on scene. Folgert says while they have narrowed down the area where the fire is believed to have started, an official cause is not yet known. Highway 64 was shut down in the area and traffic had to be rerouted for about four hours.
