02/28/2019- When it comes to how to fill the vacant City Engineer position, Menominee is still weighing its options. City Manager Tony Graff reported Monday he intends to move forward with contracting out municipal engineering services to Coleman Engineering, the same firm that has been selected to perform engineering work for the 13th Street utility replacement project. While Graff says this is only intended to be a temporary solution, he also made it clear it may be difficult for Menominee to find a single engineer who’s also willing to manage various municipal departments as part of their role.
The City has attempted to contract with a third-party agency in the past for municipal engineering. Council member Bill Plemel says it didn’t work then and he doesn’t expect it to work now.
Menominee has been without a full-time City Engineer since Valerie Mellon retired from the position in early January.
