Now that the Marinette REC Center is open, city staff are busy creating events for the new venue. Marketing Director Melissa Ebsch told the Parks and Recreation Committee that a number of events are already on the schedule for the rest of the year, and into 2020. The calendar includes a Health and Wellness Expo September 25th, an indoor Antique and Flea Market October 19th, the Colossal Fossils exhibit November 9th, the Christmas in Marinette Craft Show December 7th, a formal New Year’s Eve Party, an Everything Outdoors Show January 17th and a Home Show April 3rd. The city plans to partner with the Eagle Herald and Bay Cities Radio for some of the larger shows, as they did with the Care Expo this past spring.
Ebsch says they also have brainstormed a list of over 50 other ideas.
In additional to the city’s own events, they hope there will be many other events sponsored by other organizations who will rent the facility. A criteria the city is using when creating their own events is not to duplicate events that already exist in the community.
