The Marinette County Group Home Association wants out of the Crossroads juvenile facility, leaving Marinette County to decide what the future will look like for the home and its residents. Thursday, the Administrative Committee considered a tentative purchase of the property on Schacht Road contingent upon reaching an acceptable agreement with the Group Home Association. Currently, Group Home is under contract with Marinette County to run Crossroads. Corporation Counsel Gale Mattison says one of the terms the county is seeking is for Group Home to continue to operate the facility while the county looks for a new agency to contract with.
Group Home also runs the Anthony House and a home on Taylor Street in Marinette. Mattison says the organization is looking to only end its operation at Crossroads because they feel they can no longer provide optimal service to the residents.
The Administrative Committee recommended to the County Board the tentative purchase of Crossroads at fair market value if an agreement can be reached. The board will take up the issue at their meeting later this month.
