01/17/2019- A new feature coming to the Menekaunee Harbor area will help visitors get around a little easier. Marinette’s Public Works Committee held a special meeting Wednesday to review bid results for a project to relocate an existing water main and construct a new pedestrian bridge across the harbor on the east side of Ogden Street. The low bid for the project came from Advance Construction of Green Bay for just under $300000. Pete Kolaszewski with Ayres Associates says contract terms required the selected contractor to complete the work within 90 days of receiving a Notice to Proceed from the city, which means the foot bridge should be open to guests by this spring.
The Public Works Committee made a recommendation to award the bid to Advance Construction and passed it along to Common Council who met in special session immediately following and also voted to approve the bid award. The money for the water main relocation and foot bridge will come from existing TIF funds. Ogden Street is expected to be closed for up to seven days during the project, but an announcement will be made ahead of time and a traffic detour will be posted.
