05/13/2020- It’s the second day of community COVID-19 testing in Marinette County and health officials are expanding the criteria of who can be screened for the virus. While the tests were originally available for residents of Marinette, Oconto, Florence, and Forest Counties who showed symptoms of the coronavirus, Marinette County Public Health Officer Molly Bonjean now says those who are considered essential workers can also be tested even if they don’t exhibit any symptoms as part of a larger effort to up testing statewide.
A large portion of those who contract the coronavirus wont’ show any symptoms at all, making it harder to determine just how prevalent it is in the area. Bonjean does stress, however, that the tests being offered locally won’t detect if you’ve previously been infected.
The testing is being conducted at the Marinette County Highway Shop in Crivitz from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. today and tomorrow. It’s free of charge and is available to those ages 5 and up. In total, 900 test kits are available.
