08/18/2020- Marinette and Menominee Counties each saw six additional cases of COVID-19 Monday, bringing Menominee County’s total count to 159 and pushing Marinette County above the 500 case mark. Both counties have seen a rapid increase in the number of positive coronavirus tests since early July. Menominee County has been holding the second highest spot for confirmed COVID cases behind Marquette County, with the gap between the two now narrowing to just 21 cases difference. Menominee County has not seen any COVID-19 deaths and is currently reporting 53 recoveries. In Marinette County there have been 5 deaths attributed to the coronavirus and COVID-19 activity level is still considered to be high. Health officials in both counties and states continue to stress the importance of social distancing, increased hygiene and sanitation measures, and the wearing of face coverings to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
