In a new twist in the ongoing Menominee Marijuana dispute, it was heard in open court on Friday with attorneys representing all dispensaries in attendance. The hearing was initially intended to address the amendment of the complaint and handle various discovery issues. On Thursday night and Friday morning, ‘The Settlement Party’ – referred to as the Plaintiffs and the City of Menominee – filed a few motions. Attorney Mike Cox, on behalf of Rize, says, “the past five days, at least on behalf of the plaintiffs and the city, we viewed it as very and a step forward to resolving a large chunk of this case.”
Judge Mary B. Barglind says, “it seems to me from the statement in the motion that Mr. Cellelo and Mr. Cross have spoken to some council members and it’s a good indication that this may resolve some of those issues.”
The attorneys that were a part of the original suit, Rize, The Firestation, and the City of Menominee, will now go to Menominee City Council for approval of the settlement agreement. The next City of Menominee council meeting is Tuesday, February 20th.
