The Menominee City Council Monday approved an upgrade of tasers requested by the Menominee Police Department.
Police Chief Brett Botbyl said says five of the seven tasers is service are seven years old and out of warranty. In addition, the X-2 model currently used is going to be discontinued soon.
The Council approved Botbyl’s recommendation to go with a five year contract totaling $24,994.90 for the latest T-7 model. The city will make payments totaling about $5,000 a year. The vote was 8-1 with Alderman Bill Plemel opposing.
