08/10/2018- It looks like Marinette County is hoping to continue their partnership with the City of Marinette for Tourism and Marketing Services for a little bit longer. Tuesday, the Development Committee authorized County Administrator John Lefebvre to work with Corporation Counsel and the City of Marinette to draft an extension to the existing contract for Tourism and Marketing services to the county. Lefebvre says the current agreement that shares a Marketing/Tourism Director with the city 50-50 is set to expire in January, but he wants to retain those services through the end of 2019. However, Lefebvre adds, despite the potential extension, the shared position is still only a temporary solution for the county’s needs.
The current contract allows for either party to withdraw with 60 days’ notice. Lefebvre says he wants to keep that option in a new contract in the event the county is able to establish their own tourism and marketing program in 2019.
